Brinson Askew Berry, the largest law firm in Northwest Georgia, has named Samuel L. Lucas a partner in the full-service firm.
A Rome native and 1997 graduate of Darlington School, Lucas joined Brinson Askew Berry in 2006 as an associate. His areas of practice include business and civil litigation, appellate practice, insurance defense, local-government law, and personal injury. Lucas's trial and appellate experience encompasses representing plaintiffs and defendants in both state and federal courts. He also serves as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Rome.
"We are excited to welcome Sam as a partner," said C. King Askew, one of the firm's founding partners. "He is an excellent trial attorney who provides outstanding legal service and counsel for our clients."
Prior to joining the firm as an associate, Lucas served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Alcovy Judicial Circuit in Newton and Walton counties, where he prosecuted both misdemeanor and felony offenses.
Lucas graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2005 and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Emory University in 2001.
Lucas and his wife, Julie, live in Rome with their two children, Wilson and Hudson. Lucas is a member of the Board of Directors of both the Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home and the United Way of Rome & Floyd County.
