Webb named Chairman, Heart of the Community Foundation Board

Mark Webb has been appointed Chairman of the Heart of the Community Foundation Board of Governors for 2013-2014.

The “Heart of the Community Awards” recognition program is sponsored by Redmond Regional Medical Center and the Heart of the Community Foundation, Inc. to honor local citizens for their volunteer service to our community.  Recipients of the award are honored at a black tie gala, “An Affair of the Heart”.  The 28th annual event will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Forum.

Proceeds from the event will be designated for heart education and safety programs in the Rome and Floyd County community.  Previously funded projects have included the Heart House for families of critically ill patients on the Redmond campus, AED units in public facilities in Rome, a fitness course at Ridge Ferry Park, and a serenity garden at Redmond Regional Medical Center. 

Mark is a native of St. Simons Island; a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, Virginia, and a graduate of the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University.  Mark was brought to Rome in 1989 by the law firm of Brinson, Askew, & Berry.  He is admitted as an attorney and counselor of the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Eleventh Circuit, Court of Appeals. He is a registered mediator and has been a partner with Brinson, Askew, Berry, Seigler, Richardson and & Davis LLP for more than twenty years.

In the community, Mark is a member of Rome First Methodist Church, he currently serves as Vice Chair of the Hospitality House of Rome, as President of Coosa Valley Cycling Association, and As Board member of Trails for Recreational and Economic Development (TRES). 

Recently, Mark celebrated his 24th wedding anniversary with wife, Renee.  The Webbs have a daughter, Ailsa, who is a freshman at Rome High School.  Mark is a long-time advocate and friend of the Georgia High School Mock Trial program, the Rome Duplicate bridge club, and is an avid cyclist and outdoor enthusiast.
