International Paper plans another major upgrade

International Paper unveiled plans for a $100 million to $150 million equipment upgrade of its linerboard mill in Coosa. Plant Manager Devin Nix said the investment will ensure the mill remains competitive in the business world.

Rome-Floyd Development Authority Attorney Andy Davis, a partner at Brinson, Askew, Berry, Seigler, Richardson & Davis, said the deal is structured over a 10-year period with three stages. He explained that for the first four years of the plan, school taxes would be levied at the 10 percent level, years five through seven at 25 percent and years eight through 10 at 50 percent.
