Federal Judge dismisses case against city, county

Brinson Askew Berry partners Andy Davis and Sam Lucas successfully argued a case in U.S. District Court Monday ending the federal civil case against Rome, Floyd County, the recreation authority, RFPRA Executive Director Richard Garland and Rome police detective Chris Arrington. 

U.S. District Court Judge Harold Murphy dismissed a lawsuit filed by former parks and recreation gymnastics coach Karen Armstrong, who claims she was maliciously prosecuted. Armstrong has 30 days to appeal to the 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.

“We’re pleased with the court’s order,” City Attorney Andy Davis said. “We think it’s the right decision.”
