Duggan Prevails in Two Fair Housing Discrimination Complaints

Stewart Duggan with Brinson Askew Berry’s Public and Affordable Housing Group recently prevailed in the representation of two separate landlord-housing clients who each received federal Fair Housing Complaints alleging discrimination and fair housing violations based upon race and disability.

In both cases, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (“HUD”), the governmental agency responsible for administratively enforcing the Fair Housing Act of 1968, completed investigations into the tenants’ allegations of discrimination and found that no reasonable cause existed to believe that discriminatory housing practices had occurred. Consequently, HUD issued “Determinations of No Reasonable Cause,” in favor of each of Duggan’s landlord clients, and the fair housing complaints were dismissed.
