Stewart Duggan, a partner with Brinson Askew Berry’s Public and Affordable Housing Group, presented and provided two days of training to housing authority executive directors, boards of commissioners, and other housing authority employees at the 2022 Georgia Association of Housing and Redevelopment Authorities (GAHRA) Annual Conference held at the Marriott Savannah Riverfront Conference Center on September 19-20.

On Sept. 19, Mr. Duggan provided training on topics covering the Creation and Powers of Public Housing Authorities in Georgia, including qualifications and appointments of board members and how today’s public housing authorities may compete with private industry.

On Sept. 20, Mr. Duggan presented on topics including Legal Updates impacting public housing; Georgia’s Open Records requirements, Accommodations and Modifications under the Fair Housing Act, and how to survive an FHEO fair housing investigation. Mr. Duggan’s presentations included interactive question and answer sessions.

Approximately 400 housing authority staff, executive directors, and housing authority board members attended the 2022 GAHRA Annual Conference held at the Savannah Marriott Riverfront Convention Center.
